Choose a colour and shape to complement your chosen plant or may be to brighten up a dull spt in the garden. All out pots are frost resistant and with a little care will give you many years of service. If frost is a particular problem in your garden, glazed pottery is even stronger than terracotta, due to the type of clay used and their very high firing tempertature.
You need to ensure your plant is kept moist but never saturated, especially in winter, as in frosty weather this can damage your plant and your pot. So good drainage is vital.
For a lasting display don't forget to regularly water and feed your plant. In the summer use a matching saucer under the pot, which will act as a reservoir keeping your pot moist for longer.
In winter, remove the saucer and raise the pot off the ground with Mim's Pot Feet. As well as being attractive, they keep the drainage hole clear of the ground, enabling the pot to be well drained.
Over time moss may grow on the .surface of your pot. Sometimes a white deposit may also appear, which is due to salt in the clay or lime in the water. Neither of these will harm your pot and if preferred can be cleaned away using a stiff brush (or a cloth on glazed pots) and plenty of water. The use of chemicals is not generally advised.
Increasingly people like to use clay pottery in the home. To prevent moisture from damaging your valuable surfaces, we highly recommend the use of Mim'sSuper Saucers. These discreet clear vinyl trays, ensure 100% protection against water damage and scratches. The unique unobtrusive design, enables air to flow under the saucer preventing any build up of damaging condensation. Do make sure that you quickly mop any spills that may occur when watering.
Terracotta and glazed outdoor saucers cannot be guaranteed waterproof. In addition condensation can build up on their outer surface when placed in a warm room. Therefore we do not recommend them for indoor use.
